Slip Sheet or Palletless Handling

Handle goods without the heavy wooden pallet!

Slip sheets, or palletless handling, saves on the cost of wooden pallets and storage space.

Palletless handling transports goods without needing a heavy wooden pallet. The goods are transferred onto a slip sheet by a Push-Pull attachment. How does palletless handling work? The Slip Sheet is made from pallet-sized kraft paper sheets. An ordinary slip sheet’s surface area is 1,200x800mm with two channelings that are 75mm wide each. The Push-Pull attachment is specially developed equipment made for handling slip sheets. It easily attaches to a fork lift in a matter of minutes. The Push Pull attachment ejects a faceplate with a gripper. That gripper attachment clasps one of the channelings on the slip sheet. Then the faceplate pulls the sheet with its goods onto its flat forks. The goods can then be handled and moved to wherever you like.

Savings with Palletless Handling

Cost, Weight and Height of a Wooden Pallet

Usually slip sheets cost 80% less than regular pallets. The wooden pallet is 20 times heavier than a slip sheet. The wooden pallet is also 150 times taller than a slip sheet.

Cost of Transport

Slip sheets save storage space and weight. It is possible to load 17% more goods onto a truck with slip sheets instead of pallets. You also ship 500 kg less weight. You can choose to send 100 trucks packed using wooden pallets, or you could send only 90 trucks with the same volume of goods packed using slip sheets. The difference is clear.

Savings of Storage Space and Waste

As mentioned before, the slip sheet is 150 times thinner than a typical wooden pallet. Approximately 1,000 sheets occupy a volume of 1 m³. 1,000 wooden pallets occupy a volume of 70 m³. You also save the waste of a one-way shipment for such a large amount of wood.

Ecological Aspects

Using Slip Sheets is greener that using a wooden pallet. They reduce the number of trucks on the roads. One full truck travelling from France to the UK pollutes the surrounding environment by 0.9 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.  Generally, almost 50% of timber from European forests is used to make wooden pallets. You can produce 65 wooden pallets from one 50 year-old spruce, or you can produce 1,500 slip sheets instead.
